A pair of Galaxy S23 phones were spotted at the FCC a few weeks ago, however, the FCC prefers to keep things under wraps The same cannot be said about TENAA, which posted a fairly complete spec sheet for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The phone measures 163.4 x 78.1 x 8.9 mm and weighs 233 grams. As expected, it has the same dimensions as the outgoing S22 Ultra. The display has the same dimensions, 6.8” in size, 1,440 x 3,088px resolution (19.3:9 aspect ratio). The battery has a rated capacity of 4,855mAh, so the typical capacity should be listed as 5,000mAh as usual.
The phone’s CPU frequency lists three clusters: 3.36GHz, 2.8GHz and 2.0GHz. This matches the high clock speed of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SM8550-AC, which is rumored to power the Galaxy S23 series globally (the GPU is overclocked, but TENAA doesn’t list it).
The chipset will be paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. The Galaxy S22 Ultra also had a base 8/128GB version, though it’s not coming to China.
Speaking of things not coming to China, there’s no sign of the rumored satellite communications support. Of course, it wasn’t available on the iPhone 14s sold in China, so we don’t expect to see it listed on TENAA. It will reportedly use the Iridium satellite network and will be available for general use, unlike Apple’s system (rumors say you’ll be able to send short messages and even photos to friends).

Also not listed are the cameras, which supposedly include a new 200MP sensor (1/1.3”, 0.6µm, 12MP default resolution), 3x and 10x telephoto cameras with similar hardware but improved image quality. The main camera will reportedly finally make the jump to 8K @ 30fps video (previous models stick to a cinematic 24fps).
The Samsung Unpacked event will take place in the first week of February, according to inside info, the launch is expected to be a couple of weeks later in late February.
